The moment I saw this fun clutch at Michaels, I knew it had to come home with me. It’s the perfect carte blanche for personalizing all sorts of ways, and at right around $10 (or even less with a coupon!), it is a serious bargain.
For my project, I used my free templates and handy fabric yo-yo tutorial to create three yo-yo’s from some of my favorite fabric scraps. I created two 1.5″ fabric yo-yo’s and one 2″ yo-yo for my bag, but you could also add more yo-yo’s or even just one very large yo-yo if you prefer. There are lots of options to make this project your own!
When the fabric yo-yo’s were complete, I affixed them in a row with hot glue along the center of the clutch’s flap closure, overlapping the edges slightly.
I’ve had this pretty cameo button in my stash for ages, and I decided it was the perfect way to embellish the larger yo-yo in the center. To secure it in place, I used a small dab of hot glue. Super simple!
Total time for this fun DIY accessory project: 15 minutes!
Like I said before, every time I carry this cute clutch, I have at least one person ask me where I bought it.
I love that all of the embellishments I used for this project came from my stash of supplies. It feels so great to use up what I already have on hand. Fabric yo-yo’s are some of the very best scrap-busting projects around!
