Sometimes, the smallest projects can be the most satisfying! This tee pee embroidery design from Bucilla was so fun to make, and it only took just a few hours to complete from start to finish.
I’ve teamed up with Bucilla to share this fun idea with you today. All opinions are entirely my own.
I’m going to be giving away a Bucilla tee pee kit to one lucky reader, so be sure to scroll below for details for how to get entered!
I have always been so impressed with each of the Bucilla kits I’ve had the opportunity to work with, and this tee pee embroidery design is no exception. Everything you need to complete the project aside from an embroidery hoop are all included with the kit: floss, fabric stamped with the tee pee design, a needle, and detailed, thorough instructions to walk you through every step of the way. A pretty wood frame is also included to display your project once you’re finished!
One thing I really love about the My 1st Stitch kits is the way they incorporate a number of important techniques and stitch types to practice throughout each project. In this particular kit, the focus was one French knots, satin stitching and outline stitching. These kits really are a great way to hone your stitchery skills while also having a great project to show for your time and effort. Regardless of whether you are a seasoned embroiderer looking for a quick project or if you happen to be someone wanted to try embroidery for the very first time, this kit is perfect for you. These are great kits to introduce kids to embroidery, too.
This tee pee design is so on trend! I love the bright, bold colors. It looks fantastic framed up!
I opted to paint my frame with the Plaid Pickling Wash in Papillon, which gives the frame a transparent wash of color while still allowing the wood grain to show through.
To frame the project, I backed the finished embroidery with two circles of white felt before fitting the design into the painted frame. This gives everything lots of great dimension.
When the piece was framed, I made sure the back was nice and tidy by trimming away the excess fabric and then covering the back with a circle of felt adhered with E6000 adhesive. This particular adhesive is great for using on fabric projects, since it dries clear and pliable but holds very well. It is a much better option for projects like this than hot glue! Before gluing the back felt piece into place, I added a hanger made from pom pom trim to make displaying my finished piece as easy as can be. I can also hang it on our tree during the holidays if I like!
This is such a fun, happy project! I just love it!
