So with all of the Christmas hustle and bustle, I never got around to sharing this picture of the tunic/dress I made for myself just before Thanksgiving. This is, by far, my proudest sewing accomplishment yet! I used the Olivia Dress pattern by Serendipity Studios for this, and I was very pleased with how easily it worked up. The pattern was easy to understand, and aside from a bit of vagueness in how it described the process of attaching the yoke to the bodice, I had no problem at all deciphering how to put it all together. (And that is really saying something, seeing as my sewing skills are that of an advanced beginner, at best.) One thing I did tweak a bit was that I opted to add a snap closure to the yoke instead of sewing a buttonhole to accomodate the extra-huge 1-1/2″ button the pattern calls for. No one has to know the button is just for show. 😉
I just can’t imagine how crazy I would go without a creative outlet (or two, or three…)! Even when things are the craziest, I can sit down to create something beautiful, and it gives me the opportunity to truly unwind.
We’re on the downhill slide to another weekend!
