When I was little, my mom would often surprise me with a freshly baked treat after I got home from school. Sitting down and eating those snacks together was such a great time to sit down together and fill her in on the details of my day. Now that I’m a mom, I like to have special after-school treats for my own children, but I’ll admit it: things are so hectic around here that I rarely get a chance to turn on the oven to bake during the day. The wonderful thing is, though, that I can enlist the bakery at my grocery store to do the work for me! Today, I’m sharing one of my favorite ways to turn store-bought sugar cookies into a special treat your kiddos are sure to love. These individual fruit pizzas can be made in just a matter of seconds, and they are a fun, quick treat for kids to nosh on as they do homework after school. Read on for all the details.
Today’s post is brought to you by Rich Products.
To begin, grab a package of sugar cookies from your grocer’s bakery section. Sugar cookies like these are a wonderful carte blanche for so many quick treats and desserts!
For each “pizza,” spread 2 tablespoons of strawberry cream cheese onto the center of one of the cookies.
For the healthy toppings, use sliced fresh fruit and berries. Some great options are strawberries, blueberries, grapes, bananas, and mandarin oranges. Kids will love adding the toppings to their fruit pizzas, using the cream cheese as the “sauce” that holds everything together!
In a flash, you have a yummy, tasty treat to surprise your kids when they get home from school! Serve along with a glass of milk, and sit down to chit chat about all of the things they did throughout the day.
For our family, back-to-school time ushers in the hectic season of practices, after-school classes, games and other activities. Having a few go-to, pre-made snack ideas like this one is one way I can still treat my family to something delicious without having to invest a ton of time. It’s a winner for all!
