These fabric marker shoes are so simple, and such a great way to show off your unique personality. The basic process for making them goes like this:
Step 1: Use a pencil to doodle designs over the entire outside surface of each shoe.
Be creative! Designs like butterflies, flowers, hearts and swirls are easy and fun, but for those with great artistic skills, you could add any design under the sun.
Step 2: Outline the design with the black fabric marker pen.
This gives the design the look of a coloring book page. Super cool!
Steps 3 and 4: Color the design and add ribbon laces.
The fun part: adding lots of bright color! Use the colored fabric markers to fill in the design any way you like. When you’re done coloring, thread ribbon through the eyelets in place of traditional shoelaces (you can use the laces that came with the shoes as a guide for how long to cut the ribbon).
Aren’t these shoes so bright, whimsical and fun? There really is no limit to the many ways you can personalize them to make them truly your own!
I love how the ribbon ties really take these to the next level. You could even add decorative patches, rhinestones or sequins for even more flair!
Helpful tip: Using permanent fabric pens will ensure your design lasts even when worn, but for added durability, I recommend spraying the shoes with Scotch Guard so they can be easily cleaned when needed.
