I find nothing more enjoyable about the blogging world than being inspired by the amazing talent of my fellow crafters. That is why when I was contacted by the lovely folks at Elmer’s to host a Craft & Tell Party featuring their products, I knew immediately that I wanted my guest list to include some of my very favorite people: my readers!
After opening up a contest giving all of you a chance to attend my Virtual Craft & Tell party, five lucky winners were announced. These ladies each received a package of Elmer’s and X-ACTO products to spur their creativity, and I am thrilled today to showcase the projects they came up with!
So now, in no particular order, I present my Elmer’s Craft & Tell Party Showcase, with each crafter sharing a bit about her project in her own words!
Craft #1
Countdown to Summer Project from Kelli @ Random Thoughts of a SUPERMOM!
I started my Countdown to Summer project with the Elmer’s Bi-Fold Foam Board and some fun summer fabric. I sprayed one side of the foam board with spray adhesive and attached my fabric to it. To hold down the edges of the fabric on the backside of the board, I used the Elmer’s Glue Dot Runner.
I added some decorative trim and ribbon, and I used my Cricut to cut out letters that say “Days til Summer”. After attaching the letters and a paper clip to hold the countdown numbers, I used my X-ACTO knife to cut two small X’s in the top of the foam board for my ribbon hanger.
Now we are ready to Countdown to Summer thanks to Elmer’s!
Craft #2
Memo Board from Michelle @ At Home with Michelle
Hello. With my supplies I won from the craft and tell party I made a memo/cork board. I really had so much fun making it. 🙂 It was a simple craft and easy to make. I used my 2 sided foam board from Elmer’s, and picked a bright colorful piece of scrapbook paper. I glued the paper on using the Elmer’s Craftbond permanent tape runner. This is AWESOME!!! It is a clear adhesive and works great at holding and sticking. I then measured a piece of cork board square to a size I wanted to put on my board, and cut that out using my X-ACTO gripster knife to my desired size. I then used more of the permanent tape runner to the back of the cork board and some glue spots from Elmer’s and placed the cork board on my papered board. I used my Elmer’s painters markers and painted the fronts of 2 clothes pins. I placed them on the board with more permanent tape and glue spots. I attached a ribbon on back, and embellished my board with 2 wooden painted craft flowers. I also had some cute push pins for my cork board so I placed them on. And ta-da it is done!!! I thank you Elmer’s and Positively Spendid for the chance to win, and for the GREAT crafting supplies. I love Elmer’s products!!!
Craft #3
Mantel Decor by Catherine @ Avery and Winslow
I created functional mantel decor that can be used to show off pictures, keep track of papers, and leave messages {on an adorable chalkboard}. I used the Bi-fold Foam Board, permanent tape runner, X-ACTO knife, and extra strength glue sticks in my project.
Thanks again! I look forward to seeing what the other gals created.
Craft #4
Card and Photo Display by Shawna @ Why Not Both?
Thank you Amy of Positively Splendid for having this great giveaway with a chance to share our take on art with Elmer’s and X-Acto products!
The first project I made is much more ME. I created a non-traditional thank you card using elements from my stash for the nicest lady that I have only seen a handful of times in my life. She is very thoughtful and makes the best fudge for any occasion and even ships it when there is an illness and she can’t be there in person! I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to things that I might use in the future. This project was made using supplies from my stash of things I just couldn’t bear to throw away including scraps of paper, manilla envelopes (one small and one medium), stamps, ink and pictures from a 2004 calendar. (Yes 2004!) From the gift pack of Elmer’s and X-Acto products I used the glue sticks, glue dots, craft bond, the colored gel ink pens, the pink and orange paint markers, edging scissors and the X-Acto cutter from the gift pack. I started by layering the calendar picture of a budding tiger lily onto a larger orange piece of cardstock and then layered that on an tan piece of cardstock. At each layer oil pastels and ink was used to lightly blend the edges. I used 2 stamps in metallic inks on the picture. One floral scroll and one bird in flight. I colored in the bird using the gel pens to add some dimention. Once this layering was complete I mounted it to the front of a medium manilla envelope. Working from the back of the card, I layerd the small manilla envelope on a piece of orange cardstock and then glued it to the back of the large manilla envelope. Using black and metallic inks I aged the edges. I also used oil pastels on the back to blend the small envelope with the cardstock after stamping. I created two cards, one for each envelope. The small one was a simple scrap of coordinating paper that included my note of appreciation for a beautiful pair of Fusion earrings she sent me. The larger envelope was a fun project for me and it was a first. I layered the same coordinating paper with a block of glitter paper using the glue dots to allow a gap in the papers. I used the X-Acto cutter to create the slits so that when opened it will expose the THANK YOU written with the paint makers from Elmer’s. I’ve never been impressed with the glitter paper using it on other projects and have usually started over eliminating the glitter paper – but this time I believe success was achieved! I believe Sue will be happy with her card – it’s as unique and original as she is!
The second project I made was “ALL ABOUT ME”. Our family loves all things water based! Add some sand with the water and throw in some time shell seeking and we are in Heaven on earth! We have cruised quite a bit in the recent years and we are a bit tired of the standard portrait sittings so we have fun with it when the staff allow us. (I so should have used the picture of me “throwing” my brother overboard but that might give our favorite cruiseline a bad rep!) For this project I used the bi-fold foam board, the glue sticks, craft bond, the pink and orange paint markers and the X-Acto cutter from the gift pack. I also used supplies from my stash including papers, wire, gromits, beads, oil pastels, ink, stamps, shells, a copy of the original photograph and a sail and sign card. I turned the bi-fold on it’s side and made a “shrine” to hold more momentos from past and future sailings. I began layering papers with the photograph copy gluing each layer down securely. The point of contact for each layer was met and blended with oil pastels and inks as well as the edges of the bi-fold foam board. I painted the title block with ink, oil pastels and the paint markers from Elmer’s. I glued shells and momentos to the base of the project. I finished the project by wiring beads through gromets to hold the top open. For dimentional purposes, I created an a-symmetrical element by tying one side off much shorter than the other. All in all this was a fun project but much more vivid in my mind’s imagination than the end result or the pictures show. (Thank goodness I didn’t have weeks to tweak this or I might have gone mad!)
Thank you again for this opportunity! It has been great fun and very inspiring!
Craft #5
Scrapbook Layout by Mimi
I created a scrapbooking layout using the following produts you sent:
Elmer’s Craft Bond Glue Spots (used to adhere ribbon and hemp)
Elmer’s tape adhesive (used to adhere photos and cream mat)
Elmer’s Craft Bond Extra-Strength Glue Stick (used to adhere red and blue pattern paper)
X-ACTO scissors (used to cut journaling strips)
X-ACTO knife (used to cut red and blue rectangular pattern paper and cram mats)
I have to say the glue sticks actually work! I was really impressed with their adhesive.
Thank you for all the wonderful product! I will continue to enjoy them after this great experience.
