Easter Egg Hunt Wreath

With March upon us, now is the perfect time to craft an Easter wreath to decorate your front door or any part of your home. This festive Easter egg wreath features green eyelash yarn and handmade fabric eggs to really exude the lively fun of an Easter egg hunt, making it the perfect addition to your Easter decorations!

My inspiration for this wreath came from a wreath from Capture the Details, which I first stumbled uponon Pinterest (where else?). The moment I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for my Easter wreath this year.

The eggs featured in this wreath are some I made using my Fabric Easter Egg Pattern. Check out that full how-to before reading on to see how easily the eggs can be used to punch up this wreath project.

For this project, you will need…

• Styrofoam wreath form
• Green eyelash yarn (my 12-inch wreath form required one skein)
• 3 fabric Easter eggs (see my free pattern linked above)
• Bakers’ twine
• Embroidery needle
• Ribbon
• Straight pins and/or hot glue
• Flower embellishments (mine are stickers from my scrapbooking stash)

To start, secure one end of the skein of yard to the wreath form with a straight pin or hot glue. (I prefer to use pins, as this enables me to deconstruct and then re-use the wreath form again later on.) Wrap the yarn tightly around the wreath so that no part of the wreath form is visible between each strand. When you have wrapped all the way around the wreath, secure the opposite end of the yard to the wreath with another pin/dab of hot glue.

Thread the embroidery needle with twine, and pass it through the top of each fabric egg, as shown. Tie tightly in a knot, leaving a long string.

Wrap the string tail around the top of the wreath so that the eggs dangle at the center of the wreath. Tie in a knot to secure. (The green color of both the wreath and the twine makes it nearly impossible to see my knots here, but if you squint hard enough, you’ll be able to see.)

Add flower accents around the perimeter of the wreath, if desired, and finish things off with a perky bow. (I secured my bow to the wreath with another straight pin.)

Your Easter wreath is complete!

What a cheerful statement this little wreath makes. It really does make me think of an Easter egg hunt on a sunny day!

 

I love that since the eggs are tied on as they are, I’ll be able to remove them from the wreath later on to continue displaying the wreath even after Easter has come and gone!
