Add a creative twist to your fall decor with this DIY pumpkin centerpiece. Made with pretty wood flowers from Michaels and a white craft pumpkin, this pumpkin centerpiece can be made in 30 minutes or less, and it is a perfect way to add a pop of fall personality to your table, mantel and more!
I’ve teamed up with Michaels and the Michaels Makers to bring today’s post to you. All opinions are entirely my own.
DIY Pumpkin Centerpiece Supplies
- Artificial Craft Pumpkin
- FolkArt Multi-Surface Paint (Used Here: Pure Black)
- Paint Brush
- Floral Foam
- Assorted Wood Flowers from Michaels
- Ribbon
- Floral Wire
- Hot Glue
Tools: Paring Knife, Serrated Knife, Scissors
Use a paring knife to carve away the stem of the pumpkin; discard the top piece. Use the paint brush and paint to create a stripe around the pumpkin. Allow the paint to dry completely.
Use the serrated knife to cut a piece of the floral foam that fits snugly in the bottom of the pumpkin. Use scissors to trim down the stems of the wood flowers. Tuck the end of the stems into the foam, arranging the flowers as desired.
Aren’t these wood flowers absolutely beautiful? They are available in the dried floral section at Michaels, and I think they are so perfect for fall with their rich color and great texture! I chose some fun natural wood flowers, as well as pretty yellow roses and some tiny purple dried flowers. The yellow and eggplant combo is one of my favorites for fall this year.
When the flowers are arranged as you like, create a bow accent with the ribbon and floral wire. Create a layered effect by stacking two bows made from contrasting ribbon and attaching them with hot glue. Affix the bow to the outside of the pumpkin using hot glue.
Your DIY pumpkin centerpiece is complete!
This same design could be used with any color scheme that suits your fancy, and you could even use fresh flowers and wet floral foam if you like. There are so many great possibilities!

Those are such pretty flowers! I don’t think I’ve ever seen wood flowers at our local craft store – I’ll have to look again in case they’re a new item!
