Hey there! With school starting, these monogram key chains make the perfect gift for new teachers! Since I know y’all are BUSY getting your kids ready to start school and those school supplies cost a small fortune, you will love that these whip up super fast and cost a little over $1 each.
You will need acrylic photo key chains (I found these in the Dollar Spot at Target), some coordinating ribbon and card stock.
Before you start, make sure you have a monogram font on your computer. If you don’t, go download one for free at a site like dafont.com! You will also need a template. You can make your own or download one of several I’ve created here:
I did this in Picasa, but I’m sure the process would be similar in other editors. Start by typing in your monogram. Then choose your text color. You can use the handy dropper to match the text to the frame and save your new file.
Next, enlarge the whole monogram to fill the frame and center it. Now you’ll want to insert your monogram file into Microsoft Word and resize it to fit your keychain. You will want TWO of these pictures printed out. One for the front and one for the back. After you print them, trim them to size and insert into your key chain.
Add a coordinating bow to the key ring and that’s IT! You’re DONE! 🙂 These monogram key chains would also make fun party favors, hostess gifts… you get the idea! What would you use them for?

I cannot figure out how to get the middle initial to be bigger in Picasa. I can’t seem to highlight it like in Microsoft Word. Also, do you know the size that you need to reduce it to in Word?
Thanks,
Erin

Hi Amy, this queston has nothing to do with the key chains. When I first joined your site. You had a Christmas ornament made out of a picture and a prism. Now I can’t find it. Could you please repost that ornament. I would like to try making it for my family for Christmas. Thank You, Dianne
