Every Tuesday and Thursday throughout November and December, I’ve invited some of my favorite friends over to share some of their best holiday ideas for the third annual Swell Noël series. For this installment in the series, Kim from the Celebration Shoppe is here to share some truly darling Christmas goodie bags that even the Jolly Old Elf himself is sure to love!
Hi everyone! I’m Kim Byers from The Celebration Shoppe and I’m thrilled to be part of Amy’s Swell Noel this year!
So let’s get crafty and make a few Santa Stache Christmas Goodie Bags! They’re easy to make, easy to personalize and fun to share!
The first thing you need to do is make a Stache Stamp. Grab a wine cork, Sharpie and Xacto knife. Draw a stache with the Sharpie, trim it out with the Xacto knife and instant stamp!
Now that you have your new Stache Stamp, let’s make some bags and personalize them. You’ll need:
- Red canvas (my bags are 4 1/2″ x 6″ each)
- White thread
- Sewing machine (I used a simple blanket stitch)
- White fabric paint
- Stache stamp
- Letter stamps (S-A-N-T-A-‘-S)
- Pinking shears
- Fine paint brush
And now for the easy DIY steps:
- Cut red canvas in 4.5″ x 6″ pieces, you’ll need two per bag.
- Using a fine paint brush, lightly paint each stamp, letters and stache, and apply design to fabric.
- Allow paint to dry completely.
- Set sewing machine to blanket stitch and sew three edges.
- Trim off the top of each bag with pinking shears.
- Fill with candy.
In addition to the Santa’s Stache Goodie Bags, I also made a few Snow Balls Goodie Bags filled with white gumballs. I used the same technique plus another simple cork stamp idea. You can find more about how to make a snowflake cork stamp on my blog. And if you’re flipping through this month’s issue of All You magazine, you just might see a few more of my cork craft ideas too! {grin}
Thanks so much for having me Amy! Love your creativity and style!
