Supplies Needed for Butterfly Snack Bags
- Wood clothespins
- FolkArt Ultra Dye (Colors used here: Purple Rain and Venom)
- FolkArt Ultra Dye Brush
- Wiggle craft eyes
- Craft glue
- Zip-top plastic snack bags
- Craft pipe cleaners
- Grapes and Goldfish crackers
Tools: Scissors
To begin, use the brush to paint the entire surface of each clothespin with the Ultra Dye. Set the clothespins aside to dry completely. When dry, affix two wiggle eyes to the top front of each one.
Helpful Tip: Clip the pins to a piece of cardboard to keep them from shifting around as you work.
For each butterfly snack bag you would like to create, take one of the snack bags and fill half with the Goldfish crackers and the other half with grapes. Zip the top to close.
Fold the zipper portion of the bag down toward the back of the bag, and then use your fingers to pinch the bag at the center, as shown.
Clip one of the clothespins over the the pinched portion of the bag to secure.
Cut one of the pipe cleaners in half with scissors, and fold the piece in half before curling the two ends apart in a spiral, as shown. I think I spy some butterfly antennae taking shape!
Slide the pipe cleaner antennae down into the top of the clothespin to secure.
Your darling butterfly snack bags are complete!
Bright and colorful, these are such a fun project to make with and for children. I love it, too, that these can be prepped and refrigerated beforehand for up to a day.
