Today’s post is brought to you by Michaels.
Looking for a fun way to display your monogram, or on the lookout for a quick and easy handmade gift for teachers, friends, newlyweds and more? This burlap and cork monogram craft project takes just minutes to make, and it combines rustic and natural elements in a super chic way. Read on for all of the details for how this little project comes together with the new Raw Bar line, available starting August 8 at Michaels Stores nationwide!
For this project, you will need…
- Raw Bar unfinished burlap-wrapped canvas
- Raw Bar cork ribbon
- Raw Bar cork monogram
- Martha Stewart Crafts Cathedral Lace Stencil
- Martha Stewart Crafts Stencil tape
- Martha Stewart Crafts Multi-Surface Craft Paint in Beach Glass
- Small stencil brush from the Martha Stewart Crafts Stencil Brush Set
- Small paint brush from the Martha Stewart Crafts Large Brush Set
- Hot glue
Use the stencil, craft paint and stencil brush to create a design on the center of the burlap canvas, securing the stencil to the canvas with the stencil tape as you work. While the paint is still wet, carefully remove the stencil and tape. Allow the paint to dry completely.
Carefully paint around the outer edges of the cork monogram using the small paint brush and the craft paint. Set aside to dry.
Use hot glue to affix the monogram to the center of the stenciled motif.
Cut 2 small sections of the cork ribbon and wrap each around the top left and bottom right corner of the canvas, securing with hot glue. Tie a knot into an additional piece of the ribbon, and affix with hot glue at the center of the top left-hand piece.
Your burlap and cork monogram is complete!
Without a doubt, my favorite products in the Raw Bar line are the cork ribbon and monograms. The ribbon is especially fun, and I can imagine using it for so many purposes: gift-wrapping, craft projects, wreaths, and more!
I love that this line includes ready-made, ready-to-finish elements that you can quickly and easily personalize to achieve the look your desire. With just a touch of paint and a bit of imagination, the sky is the limit for the number of different looks you can create. All products in the line are inspired by nature, with textures and surfaces that include burlap, cork, chalk board, wood, metal and canvas. So many fun possibilities!
All of the Raw Bar line will be available at Michaels starting August 8, but if you are itching to do some shopping before then, be sure to save 25% off your entire purchase (including sale items!).
And don’t forget to also check out my other Michaels Makers project, fun totes made from upcycled t-shirts!
Thanks so much for stopping in, everyone!
