This time of year, I love that there are so many occasions that warrant something sparkly and festive, and really, what is more sparkly and festive than a bit of glitter? Today, I’ve got a fun, easy craft project idea that is perfect for tweaking for any occasion or holiday! This cute color-blocked glittered frame is perfect for displaying a favorite Halloween printable, and today I’m even providing you with a Halloween printable featuring one of my favorite quotes that is just perfect for this time of year. Or, made in red and green, this would be a lovely addition to your Christmas decorations this year. Ready to get started? Let’s get right to it!
For this project, you will need…
- 1 unfinished wood frame
- White acrylic paint
- Mod Podge
- Painter’s tape
- Ultra-fine glitter in two colors
- 2 foam brushes
To begin, use a foam brush to paint the entire surface of the frame white, applying as many coats as needed for full coverage. Allow the paint to dry completely.
Apply 2 strips of the painter’s tape along the center portion of the frame, as shown. Working on one end of the frame, apply an even coat of Mod Podge with a foam brush.
While the Mod Podge is still wet, sprinkle on a generous amount of the the first color of glitter. Shake off any excess glitter, and allow this layer to dry for 5-10 minutes. If you desire even more luster, you can repeat this same Mod Podge/glitter process a second time to create an additional coat. Repeat the process above on the other end of the frame with the second glitter color.
While the Mod Podge is still slightly wet, remove the Painter’s tape.
Once the tape is removed, allow the project to dry completely (preferably overnight) before popping a favorite photo or printable into the frame.
Your color-blocked glittered frame is complete!
The quote displayed in my frame is my all-time favorite quote for Halloween, and today I’m sharing the free printable version of it so you can enjoy it this Halloween, too! You can download this file to use for your own personal use by clicking here.
As I mentioned before, made in any number of colors, this same concept would be perfect for any holiday: red and green for Christmas, gold and silver for the new year, red and pink for Valentine’s Day…you get the picture! Just be warned: once you see how easy it is to add a glam touch to projects with glitter and Mod Podge, you might want to glitter everything in sight!
