It’s hard to believe, but today marks the final installment in the Swell Noel 2013 series. Haven’t all of the ideas shared been wonderful? To finish things off on a sweet note, my friend Melissa from Melly Sews is here to share her recipe for spiced hot chocolate. What a yummy thing to sip as you wrap presents or enjoy a Christmas movie!
Hi Positively Splendid readers, I’m Melissa and I blog over at Melly Sews. Today I’m thrilled to wrap up Amy’s Swell Noel series for you with a quick and easy set of gifts – spiced hot chocolate mix and a pot holder.
We enjoy this hot chocolate every year – it’s great to put in thermoses and give my boys when we decide to go out driving to look at Christmas lights. Bonus – carols on the radio and warm milk often put the boys to sleep – and the hubby and I get to enjoy some blessed silence!
Spiced Hot Chocolate Recipe
3 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 cups cocoa
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp salt
Combine all the ingredients in a blender or food processor and mix until well blended. Store in an airtight jar (Maybe decorated with a scrap of fabric and Amy’s printable gift tags like I did?).
To serve, add 1 1/2 tablespoons to 8 oz of hot milk, stir until blended.
And if you’d really like to make this gift special, the pot holder tutorial is on my blog with a free pattern. It sews up quick and easy. I hope you stop by to say hi, and thanks for having me Amy!
