Something about the advent of the new year makes me want to take control of our family’s busy schedule and get in tip-top organizing shape! For our family of six, keeping our appointments, practices, and social events in order is no small feat, but this year, I’ve teamed up with Michaels to create a new organizing command center to live in our kitchen. This little nook will contain all I need to tame the paper trail and stay on top of everyone’s calendar, all in a stylishly functional way with fun new products from Michaels’ Cre8ted Spaces line. Let me fill you in on how you can make a command station like this for your family, too!
This post is brought to you by Michaels. All opinions are entirely my own.
Nothing can be as overwhelming as a parent of school-aged kids than all of the PAPER that follows them home each day. To keep all of that paper trial in check, I grabbed a fun vertical letter organizer from the Cre8ted Spaces line (with more than 300 new items in 4 coordinating colors, you have to check it out!) to house everything from permission forms and school lunch schedules to party invitations. Having everything stored in plain sight will ensure items don’t get lost in the shuffle!
Busy school mornings are made even more stressful when I find myself needing to sign reading logs, homework folders, and permission forms, but can’t find the proper writing tools to do so! To prevent that stress, my command center has a handy holder to house pens, pencils, markers and scissors. I love knowing all of these things will always be at arm’s reach when I need them! Nestled next to that holder is a clear lidded glass jar (I found this one in the dollar section at Michaels) to hold paper clips for keeping papers organized.
It’s no secret that my secret weapon for staying on top of our busy lifestyle is making a weekly meal plan, so I made sure to include a stylish clip memo board where I can keep track of our weekly menu. (This board came from the frame section at Michaels, but I also have a fun tutorial for how to make a clipboard photo display that would be perfect for this purpose, too!)
Not only does the Cre8ted Spaces line include tons of adorable organizing bins, boxes and containers, but there are also some fabulous organizers in the line. Included in my command center is this terrific weekly organizer that comes chock full of plenty of sticky notes, and even a little envelope for stowing away receipts, coupons or other small items. This is sure to be put to plenty of good use in the year to come!
Overall, I know this command station is going to streamline life so much and help me stay on top of our family’s schedule in the year to come. (And it doesn’t hurt that it looks attractive, too, so that I won’t be ashamed to keep in on the kitchen counter in plain sight!)
