Paper Medallion Napkin Rings

Pretty paper medallion napkin rings made with shower curtain rings. So smart!
I just love pretty paper, don’t you? And one of my absolute favorite ways to showcase my favorite prints and patterns lately is to create pretty paper medallions to use for all sorts of purposes. These Paper Medallion Napkin Rings would be perfect for any of your summer entertaining, whether you be hosting an outdoor dinner, a wedding shower, or any other special event. By adding guests’ monograms to the center of each medallion, these can also double as placecards!
Ready to see how I put these together? Let’s get started!
For this project, you will need…
Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Pinking Circles and Rosettes dies
Manual die cutting tool (I use the Epic Tool)
Patterned paper
Cardstock
Letter stickers
Paper trimmer
Scissors
Plastic shower curtain rings
Ribbon
Hot glue
To start, cut out a rosette and a small and medium pinked circle shape using the dies and the die cutting tool. 
By the way, did you know that all of the Lifestyle crafts dies are compatible with any manual cutting machine? So, even if you have a Cuttlebug, Big Shot, or other machine, you can still play along!
If you have always been intimidated by the idea of using the Lifestyle Crafts dies and tools, let me show you how easy it is to do.
Choose a die, in this case the Nesting Pinking Circles…

Place the die face up (smooth side down) on the cutting platform.

Place your chosen paper face down on top of the die.

Place the cutting mat on top, and then run everything through your machine (it operates with a hand crank).

That’s all there is to it! So simple.

Now that everything is cut out, fold the rosette accordion style, and adhere the ends together with hot glue. Shape the rosette into a circle, and press it flat. Adhere the small pinked circle to the center front, and the medium pinked circle to the back, as shown. Embellish the center of the small pinked circle with a letter sticker. Set the completed medallion/rosette aside for now.

Cut a very long length of ribbon, and secure one end to one of the plastic shower curtain rings with a dab of hot glue. 

Wrap the ribbon around the shower ring, securing with a dab of hot glue every so often, until the ring is completely covered. Secure the end of the ribbon with another dot of hot glue. 

Place a generous dab of hot glue on the ribbon-covered ring, and use it to adhere the ring to the center back of the completed medallion/rosette.

Cut a strip of cardstock to 1×2.5″. Apply a line of hot glue to one of the short ends of this piece, and adhere it to the back of the medallion, as shown. Feed the opposite end of the paper piece through the ring, and adhere this other short end to the opposite side in a similar manner, forming a loop to reinforce and add more stability to the napkin ring. 

All finished!
What a pretty, dynamic statement these would make on any table!

I doubt few guests would ever guess that these actually started off as shower curtain rings. 😉
