Looking for a pretty way to display pictures, notes and other items? This DIY fabric cork memo board showcases favorite fabric and is easy to make in just minutes. I made today’s project for my daughters’ bedroom, but this same concept would be perfect for classrooms, dorm rooms, home offices, and more! Read on to see how easily this project comes together.
To make this DIY fabric cork memo board, you will need…
- 1 stretched canvas in your desired size
- Cork roll
- Scissors
- Hot glue
- Home decor fabric
- Pinking shears
- Decorative studs, beads, etc. (optional)
To begin, unroll the cork and lay it out on top of the canvas, trimming the cork so that it is the same size as the canvas.
Affix the cork pieces to the canvas using hot glue.
Trim and adhere enough pieces of cork so that the entire surface of the canvas is covered.
Press the fabric thoroughly to remove any wrinkles. (This is a very important step to ensure your finished project has a professional look!) Trim the fabric so that it is about 2″ wider and longer than the canvas on all sides. I recommend using pinking shears for this step to minimize fraying.
Lay the fabric face down on a work surface, and center the canvas face down on top. Working along one of the long sides, tightly wrap the fabric around the canvas, adhering the fabric to the wood frame of the canvas with hot glue as you go. Repeat this process on the other long side of the canvas.
When both long sides are affixed, fold down one of the corners along one of the short sides of the canvas, so that it forms a 45-degree angle, as shown…
…before pulling the bottom folded corner up and around the canvas and affixing the edge with hot glue as you did on the previous edges. Make sure you pull the fabric tight to form a nice, tidy corner. Repeat this step on the remaining three corners of the project.
To finish, affix jewels, gems or decorative studs around the outer perimeter of the board using hot glue, making sure the embellishments are spaced evenly to form a frame around the piece.
Your DIY fabric-covered cork memo board is complete!
Now the fun part: hanging it in your space and filling it with some of your favorite photos, notes and other mementos!
My daughters love having this memo board in their room. It really adds a pop of bright personality to the space!
To hang items from the board, my 9-year-old daughter and I created some adorable decorative push pins using Mod Melts. I’ll be sharing more about these little guys tomorrow, so stay tuned!
This memo board looks lovely displayed above the DIY Wood Crate Bookshelf I created for this space. This little nook is filled to the brim with some of my daughters’ favorite things, and it makes us all very happy to have everything so beautifully organized!

Gorgeous fabric!! Would you please link to the source? I’d love to order some. Also – loved the nailhead-look stickers. I’ve used thumbtacks in the past for a similar project, but those stickers are a great alternative.
