Armed with a package of fun paper feathers, a wreath, some ribbon and just a few brief minutes, I set to work on a mission to create a whimsical new fall wreath to hang in my home throughout the season. The end result? An inexpensive, whimsical and fun project that exudes rustic autumn appeal! Today, I’m providing all the details for how this fall feather wreath came together. Let’s get started!
I’m going to let you in on a little secret today. One of my favorite spots to look for unexpected, fun elements to incorporate in my home decorating craft projects is a place you might least expect: the scrapbooking aisle! The paper crafting industry is one of the very best at keeping up with the latest trends in color and design, and with their quick turnover of product, there is always something new to scoop up and use in my projects. I never make a trip to the craft store without making a quick sashay through that section!
Last week, I stumbled upon some great paper leaf embellishments with a fallish color scheme in the paper crafting section at Michaels, and I knew immediately that these would be perfect for making a wreath for my fall mantel. This project takes just four basic supplies as as little as 10 minutes to complete. It really couldn’t be easier!
For this project, you will need…
- Grapevine wreath
- Ruffled burlap ribbon
- Paper feather embellishments
- Hot glue
Directions:
- Wrap the burlap ribbon around the wreath, securing with hot glue as you go.
- Nestle feathers throughout the wreath, affixing them to the wreath with hot glue.
In as little as 10 minutes, you have a whimsical wreath to display throughout the season!
I love the bold, vibrant colors of these paper feathers, and I can see them as being a perfect way to punch up so many fall projects: place settings, garlands, and just about anything else under the sun. I think I need to head back to the store to pick up a couple more packages. 🙂
Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my latest project today. If you are in the mood for even more fall crafting ideas, I hope you’ll stick around for a bit longer to check out these other fun projects, all of which can be made in a flash!
